Zanzibar Spice and Heritage Center (ZASPIHE) is a tour company based in Kijichi, Zanzibar, Tanzania. We are owned and run by local people who love to share the beauty and culture of Zanzibar with visitors. Our team is passionate about providing friendly, personalized experiences that highlight what makes Zanzibar special.
We offer a variety of tours, including spice tours, stone town tour, transport service, prison island and nakupenda island cooking lessons, beekeeping experiences, Internship and volunteering service and opportunities to learn about Swahili culture. Whether you’re visiting with family, friends, or on your own, we create memorable and enjoyable experiences for everyone.

Owner MESSAGE
Message from the Owner & CEO, Mr. Issa Foum Ali
I am Issa Foum Ali from Zanzibar, passionate about sustainable development, organic farming, and creating opportunities for others. These interests inspired me to establish the Zanzibar Spice and Heritage Center (ZASPIHE).
My father, Mr. Foum Ali Garu, has been my inspiration. With a Master’s in Agriculture and over 12 years in tourism, he championed sustainable practices and showcased Zanzibar’s heritage. A retired tutor from the State University of Zanzibar (SUZA) in the School of Agriculture, he taught organic farming and post-harvest techniques. He has guided notable figures like Prince Charles of Wales and the U.S. Secretary of Agriculture, demonstrating the harmony of organic farming and tourism.
Before studying in Germany, I was deeply influenced by my father’s work. He instilled in me a respect for tradition, love for the land, and a vision for a sustainable future. My time in Germany, volunteering and learning about sustainability, reinforced these values and led to ZASPIHE’s creation.
At ZASPIHE, we offer immersive experiences such as spice tours, cooking lessons, mushroom farming, beekeeping, and Swahili culture workshops. These programs not only highlight Zanzibar’s natural and cultural treasures but also uplift local communities.
My mission is to preserve Zanzibar’s traditions, promote sustainable farming, and welcome the world to experience the island’s magic. Through ZASPIHE, I honor my father’s legacy, strengthen the community, and create unforgettable experiences.
